Thread: Schematic #'s
Can someone please explain to me EXACTLY how schematic #'s for the /sel command are assigned? Conventional wisdom seems to bethat ithas to do with the order in which you learned your schematics, filtered by whether you are near a crafting station and/or what specialized tool you use. This can't be the answer, or at least not all of the answer:
While training droid engineer, at first the schematic for Advanced Droid Frame Unit in my datapad was #165, then I gained a level and it became #180, then another level, and it was pushed to #204. I always use a WDGC tool and a crafting station fitted into my droid. Just to be sure I wasn't standing by a wall that had a station on the other side or something silly like that, I went out into the wild to craft - no change in schematic #'s. If anyone knows how the system works (and thus can determine what #schematic is without trial-and-error) I'd appreciate if you could clear it up for me.
The number is different depending on what schematics you can craft atm. Things that need specialized tools and/or stations, will not count if you do not have/are not close tothose.
Best way is to pick random numbers, and when you are fairly close to the one you want to craft, add or subtract one, until you hit the spot.

Remember to recount your schematics if you level-up in something that gives you new items to build. The new items may have gotten inserted before the item you're selecting, so the number will have changed.
Hope that helps.
It is and always will be trial and error. You can 'estimate' the Schematic number by opening your datapad and the schematic tab and counting from left to right. It will vary as some of the schematics only are accessible with the station nearby. Guess the number and then whatever schematic appears, check your datapad again to see where that schematic appears in relation to the other one and adjust accordingly.
I have noticed that whenever you learn or forget a crafting skill, the numbers can sometimes change. But there is no way that has been released to simply look at the schematic and know its number on your station. I have noticed that my datapad appears to have sorted my schematics into 'families' such as all DE in one area, all tailoring in another, all med in a third - so it is possible that the system resorts everytime you learn a new schematic.
