Im a new artisan just getting started with the harvesting of precious resources to start off my grind to armorsmith. Ive created a couple personal mineral extractors only to result in a very minimal BER. How do i create a quality harvestor that has a BER > 1? Ive attempted to use quality materials but still no success. If anyone has any advice regarding the crafting of harvestors and how to create them with good BER please let me know.

Well if you have money you will want to get BER 13 or so heavy harvesters made by architects.
If not you can craft personal harvesters up to around 4 or 5 I think. You will want to have good stats and also be near a crafting station so that you can experiment on the item. If you are experimenting on the item and still getting BER 1 then you either need more experimentation points or better resources.

also, use the highest quality crafting tool and crafting station that you can. The highest quality tool possible is +15.00, and the best crafting stations will probably be in houses or shops - look around in some of the malls on your server. You're likely to find good crafting stations there, or you can buy one and set it in your house. It's also best if you're in a player city that's designated as a research center. And eating Pyollian Cake and drinking Bespin Port can help too.

I believe the max on a personal harvester is 4, not 5 (except for the wind power harvesters). Or at least the max is 4 till the entertainer crafting bonuses are on live, which may change the limits forever.
You will need good resources to reach ber 4. But if you are headed for just armorsmith, you may not be picking up enough experimentation points to reach the max ber. There are artisan experimentation points in the engineering column, but if you pass on the domestic arts column, you pass on the rest of the artisan experimentation points. My impression of crafting is that you won't reach the maximum potential without all those experimentation points.
