I heard that human only need 5 artisan experimentation points to get the highest amount of points.

But how is it as a non-human? The same as every other profession +20?

You heard incorrectly.

Humans only need +5 artisan experimentation points to become a 12 point artisan, but 12 points is not the max for experimentation. A human master artisan with +25 artisan experimentation points becomes a 14 point artisan. This is because humans get a racial bonus of +15 to artisan experimentation.

Non-human artisans can only reach 12 point status and yes, it requires +20 experiementation points just like every other crafting profession.

Not really... the only areas where it is at all useful are foods, weapons, and powerups. Everything else in artisan has only one line of experimentation and can therefore be maxed out by any master artisan. If you really want to be the ultimate artisan, then yes you'll have to create a human character, but in my mind there's not much point to it. Become a 12 pointer and be whatever character you really want to be.
