Thread: Question about Elites off of Artisan novice.

Thanks for reading...

I've decided to use my knowledge of the force to help get into the crafting side of SWG, my question is:

Which (elite) profession off of the Artisan tree requires the least "one time super spawn" resources in order to be competitive?

I know, or rather have been told, that WS and AS, particularly, are often dominated using resources that are 'best ever' for a server, and as a new crafter I'd like to avoid that scenario.

I'd really appreciate any advice.

Thanks!

Most likely Architect or Shipwright...Both require enormous amounts of materials, but named/special resources are not the norm for either. Likewise, most of the materials needed can be obtained in decent enough qualities on a fairly continuous basis. I guess Tailor would also be in this category, and requires far fewer resources than Arch or SW. Both AS and WS require high-quality resources and DE requires many, many specific resources.

Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it.

I wasn't so much looking for what didn't require resources, as I was concerned about not having access to that "best spawn ever of copper", or whatever it may be, that makes all the difference

Tailor has only one item (an armor component) where stats matter at all, so you wouldn't have to worry about resource quality for that. On the other hand, you won't get any benefit from any force crafting skills you may have, either.

IMO, Chef is pretty well balanced as far as hoarders not having an overwhelming advantage. Resource quality does matter, and if you get your hands on some good stuff than you can make food better than someone who didn't get it. But with very few exceptions, you have 10, 20, or 40 different resources in a given spawn to choose with. Most of a chef's ingredients are meat and flora, and even with a named resource as specific as "Domesticated Rice" or "Carnivore Meat", you have 10 different planets, each with a different variety. So it's less likely for a chef to have a "dry spell" where he/she can't get any decent resources.

Of course, the flip side of that is that it can take a lot of travel to harvest your resources or to track down new resource spawns.

not gonna flame ya sci-guy but..

the armorer componet no longer matters.. armor padding im sure you are refering too..

And FS does help tailor .. to get you 4 sockets : )

But i agree, tailor, and arcitect.. SW you need tons of stuff if your going to make parts. the easiest for stuff to get and be competive is Chef as long as you like to survey and do your own mining.

<---has the best spawn of copper ever on tempest 1000 and perfect repair tools ftw!

Archi or Tailor are definitely the profs where stats seem to be the least important

Well, I was just going off of hearsay info. I thought the wookiee armor padding did have experimentation on it that carried over into the wookiee armor pieces. I guess the change to armor crafting with the CU changed that. Nevermind, then.

Thing about architect, you pretty much only have to vie with UT as a stat. Where we come back into balance is that you need a whole lot of resources to make most of the items that are the money makers. Harvies and houses and such.
