Thread: Question on Factory Use

Does anyone know of a good Factory A-Z useage thread or FAQ they could post a link to here?

I'm to the point in my Armorsmith grinding where I'm about to have to start mass producing armor segments and other fun little pieces. And this goes against my nature (me? ask for help/directions?!? NEVER!) But I'd hate to screw up on some basic function out of ignorance of the subject and waste time/resources/power/money/looted items/etc.

Thanks in advance.

I don't know of any specific crafting guide, but the most important thing to remember about factories is always keep your maintenance up. If it runs out of power, it will stop producing, no big deal. But if it runs out of maintenance money it gets really expensive to fix, really fast. Once you drop a factory you'll wonder why you waited so long, trust me I was just like you until I did it. The basic steps are, make a schematic, drop the factory, deposit money, deposit power, load the schematic, put your ingredients into the hopper, and start the factory. All except making the schematic is done through the radial menu. If you need help with the schematic, you just need a specialized crafting tool, and stand near a crafting station. My last words of advice: make sure you have plenty of power before you drop the harvester, and make sure that whatever you use to make the schematic, you have a good supply of it because you will have to use the exact same materials in your factory.

Any further questions, feel free to post them here! Best of luck to you and don't kick yourself too hard when you realize how easy it all is

I thought of one more tip I might give you. Some people only drop their factories and make a run, then pick them back up again until they need them again. Personally I just put them near my house and leave them there, dropping in maintenance occasionally and running them as needed. I think it's worth the daily maintenance for the extra storage space, I'm always filling my house up and it's nice to just store component crates in the factory. It costs money every time you redeed, so if you're going to use the first method, try to get the most out of each time you place the factory to minimize your redeed cost. If that makes sense.

Great tips, thanks!

This is exactly the type of pointers I've been looking for. Much obliged.

Yes, I'm familiar with SWGcraft.com and all. But the only thing they really have on factories is the factory resource/power useage calculator. The site is extremely handy, but doesn't have any real info (that I can find, at least) in regards to how to actually use the factory. In fact, in the crafting section where it has factory use, all it says is "Coming soon".

I know I'm probably making it more difficult in my mind than it is, and that I'll see that once I get a couple of factories and plop them down. I just like to be well educated on something before I charge headlong into it.

Thanks for being the only one cool enough thus far to actually reply though. :-)
