It occurred to me that it would be convenient to have every house act as a 5 item vendor for deliveries only.

The way it would work is that you get an order for something, make it, go to the customers house and offer it up to the 'mailbox' for the agreed-on price. The customer logs in andgets an email telling him that there has been a delivery. He goes to the mailbox, deposits the money and takes delivery. It would work the same way as the present 'offer to vendor' does now.

Note that this would be for deliveries only, the 'mailbox' vendor could not be used for selling to others or as a sort of 2-way drop box.

You could also hire someone (maybe a newb) to make the deliveries for you, thus providing real delivery missions.....
