No, it was possible for 1 day during the short lived patch for Experimenting. I beleive it was patch 6 or 7 (I forget, it's been a while), you could experiment things to 100% as long as you had the proper resource, and the proper experimentation points. I am still kicking myself for not making any more Schematics... but they reversed this the very next day. So for 1 day a few months back, it was possible.

Ah! Another question I can give my favourite answer on. The reason they did this was: (drumroll)

SOE.

They reversed it (rolled it back) due to a huge outcry from the crafter community. Personally, I liked the change, but a lot of folks were very concerned about it and they made such a noise, that the devs rolled it back.

My opinion, of course, I don't know that for certain.

Take care,
Guru

I'm brand new, and a little confused. What was bad, exactly, about being able to reach 100% ? And, um, why would we NOT want that?

There was nothing wrong with the abitlity to reach 100%, the outcry came because it only allowed you to experiment on one line if I remember correctly, meaning that you could reach 100% damage on a Weapon, but you would not be able to experiment on any other feature like range mods, condition etc... I THINK that's what the outcry was about. The benefit was for any item that required only 1 line of experimentation, power-ups, crafting tools, repair kits etc, you were able to reach levels of Functionality that you were unable to reach before. I made "perfect" power-ups with less-than-perfect materials, which was kinda cool.

Also one of the things people were rather upset about was the very noticable increase of critical failures (rather a few architects totally destroyed heavy harvesters that way, which is kinda costly, so it pisses people off

They were only possible on "temporary Tuesday" when they changed experimentation for 1 day and then changed it back the next day.

Not really. They totally change how experimentation, you still was able to experimentation on all stats, but they was almost totally bided to how many experimentation point you put in it. That way you was able to make good weapon scem but only after you make 100 try. So it totally kills hand made items, sine to make good you was need amasing suces in all experimentation.
And you not right about Architects, they really made cool miners But yea, failure was big, but some 14 BER still have good prices.
