Anyone else wonder why there is nothing a crafter can hold to make his crafting better or less risky? I have.
While I am holding a rebel blaster or rifle, I often wonder why I don't have a cool hammer or some other sort of visable item to hold in my hands that could actually benefit my crafting.

u do....it's called a crafting tool. The better the tool the better your crafting results will be.

I like that I can hold a pistol while crafting, surveying, or sampling. I'd be screwed if i was sampling for minerals holding a hammer and a deranged creature came up on me.
With the pistol my character starts shooting automatically giving me time to don armor, self heal or whatever else is necessary.

One does NOT phically hold a crafting tool in their hands while crafting.
Yes, it's just lovely that we can survey while holding a weapon, but... while crafting, wouldn't it be nice if we could equip something like a hammer that would give bonuses to our experimentation or lower crit failures??? How many times have you ever walked into a tailor shop or electronics shop and seen the artisan there holdingan uzi?

Depends on what city you are in. Some people live in a pretty tough neighborhood.
