I am Master artisan. When i get missions in the terminal , the missions are generic surveis : gas, mineral, metal..and the reward are near 700-900 cr no more.
Yesterday, only, in the terminal missions i get especific missions for Innert gas, low grade ore, etcc. and the reward are near 1600-1900 cr.
Why cant I get them again.....?. today only 900 cr missions again.

What weapon is equipped? Perhaps explore and artisan missions still gauge difficulty based on combat insted of other classes?

Completely illogical, but true. Make sure you have your best weapon equipped. The level of survey missions you can take is determined by your combat skill with the currently equipped weapon.

Thx, is correct. The level of weapon is the reason for the mission survey level. confirmed

OK, so you've gotten a survey mission from an artisan mission terminal. Your mission is to do a successful survey that is a minimum of 1024 m from that terminal, for whatever it is you took the mission for. A successful survey is one that is at least as high, or higher, percent resource than what the mission calls for. You don't have to do any sampling, just doing the survey and getting a high enough result will accomplish the mission.
One way to do this is to set a waypoint at the terminal that you get the mission, so that you know when you are sufficiently far enough away, for the survey to count towards completing the mission. Then go out to 1024 m from the mission terminal, and start looking for the resource.
Another way is to take a survey mission for a known resource of appropriate density in another city, and then take the shuttle to that city. Get off shuttle, survey, complete mission. If you can find two cities that each have a high enough resource, especially if the resource is close to the shuttle station, you can keep shuttling between the two cities, completing two missions each way.
Keep in mind that you also need to go to a mission terminal to get the next two missions before going back to the other city. Also, don't take ore missions.

Hi guys
can anyone explain how the Artisan Survery missions work. I take on a mission and its says i need to find the resources within 102m of the mission giver, but i cant find the mission giver, even when i type /who with the surname
Any ideas on what i am doing wrong, or is it a case of being patient and travelling around the planet a bit??
All ideas gratefully appreciated

Yes the mission giver can be an Artisan mission terminal, or a NPC, but at least I've never seen a mission to find a resource within a certain range. It is normally you must find a specific concentration or higher of the specified resource type, outside the given range.
So if the mission is for 55% DensityMetal, you'd normally have to go at least 200m or so away from the mission giver and survey for that concentration, so if there is a 60% deposit right beside the terminal it does not count. Most of the time, however, you'll have to travel much further to find the required concentration, since the randomly generated missions do not assign missions based on the resources in the locality of the terminal or the NPC. There can even be missions given by them for resources that are not even available on the planet (at least for the more specific mission types).
Hope this helps.

Well, ore isn't showing up on your tool because it's shifted off that planet (but I think others covered that in another thread).
The reason you don't really want ore survey missions is that the 800+ payouts require a 66% or so concentration. I have only found an ore spot that high once, although it's not one of my regular resource types. It's really hard to find ore concentrations higher than 50%, and since the metal/gas missions pay the same but are easier to find in the required concentrations, you spend less time on each mission, so you can do more missions with the same amount of play time.

Missions = Money
You should have some harvesters out there, quietly working away pulling up resources. But until you have money flowing in as quickly as money flows out (harvester maintenance money), you will need to do missions to make up the difference. You need money to make money. And harvesters eat up a lot of money in maintenance.

Well, for an artisan just starting out, it's easy money. Especially if they take missions before they go out looking for spots to place harvesters. So if you're out surveying for metal anyway, might as well make a few hundred credits along the way. It's also pretty easy if you're hopping between two cities, and there's a 70% spot not far from the destination shuttleport.
