Crafting tools right when you start off, and if you pick up medic, you can craft the med tools right from that start. As you go up harvesters are good too.

...has quit the game because I refuse to pay $15 a month to pay for someone's salary who does Jack Squat. Also the game just got boring.

You might try some of the new food products. If they give usage exp, they could be one of the best no-grind ways to make progress. You will probably still have to sell them below cost, once the chefs gear up, but they should sell and get used.

I hate grinding, and managed to avoid it right after the system came on because every characterwas a newbie. I even eventually sold the closetfull of soft shirts I made in the final push to master. But now with mature servers, it isn't easy to sell much until you have all your experiment points, no matter how low you go on price. That BER 1 harvester will cost the buyer more in maint over a cycle than the price of a BER 4.

The new food looks like it will have value to the buyer even if poorly made. The old food just wasn't worth using at less than maximum stats, and hardly worth it then.

I found bone armor was good for me as I was working on my marksman skills and scout skills and whenever I went out hunting with a group I'd come back with a massive amount of bone and hide.

Travel packs are good once you get them as you can put them on the bazaar and they sell pretty well.

oh and find yourself a friendly master artisan to craft you a 14.43 weapon/generic crafting tool or three, helps a lot.
