I have't been playing for awhile and was thinking about coming back and running a resource business. I was wondering if there was still a need for resources. I used to make pretty good money for grinders working toward the FS slot but now I guess most people have quit that.

As long as there are crafters, there will be a demand for resources. Although, there may not be a demand for Grind-Qualtiy resources.
If you are thinking of going into business, there are two key areas to focus on:
1) Know your customer
2) Build relationships
When I started my resource business I was planning on being a wholesale operator dabbling in all types of resources (with the help of a few friends). Durning my 'market research' period, where I discussed demand, quality needs, and volume with our guild crafters, I realized there was more than enough business for me to work on a stictly contract basis.
In short, yes there is a demand, you just need to find it.

I alway need resources. I love to craft but I don't wabt to chase down resource shifts. When I find a good resource vendor, I always come back for more.
If you're on Intrepid, let me know.

Focus on the high-end/rare resources. There will always be masters out there that need their lots for factories and/or don't want to search for their own raw materials. I make a very comfortable income supplying several chefs, doctors and bio-engineers.
