Thread: Vehicle Customisation Idea

We all know that they do not last long enough. I personally think they should be permanant, but then you hear a lot about repeat business and such. Well, I know these things are hard enough to give away let alone sell to make a profit. What do I do mostly with them? Give them to my friends so they can play with the colors, but even that is very rare.

Here's my idea:

Make the color change permanant, BUT!make only one use per customisation kit. That is either trim or body for a kit, not a full customisation. Now, you would probably see people buying these things and some repeat business as people want to change the color (or their bike gets destroyed by dirty Imps or Rebel scum). As it is now, people don't really bother as it is more of a hassle than something neat to do for your trusty bike. Also, a permanent change would make the general experience less plain as people all over would have painted bikes.

Sidebar:

It is posible that this could be applied to armour as well. Special kits to change the color, although perhaps that should be an armoursmithy thing. Then they don't have to worry as much about special orders for certain colors and people that buy don't have to search and search.

I'm thinking that since the vehicle repair bugs (where you get a free repair by shuttling out with your vehicle out) have been fixed, the demand for new vehicles has gone up. As a result, I don't see a huge problem with just making coloration changes permenant. We'd still see steady sales, as people customize their new vehicles.

That's just me.

I like this idea. Making them permanent would be really great and save me the trouble of always repainting. I don't repaint because it is a huge pain too.

And you are right, I never buy the stuff anyway. Friends give it to me.

I don't make vehicles, but I plain stopped bothering with using these kits because I had to literally repaint my speeder every other day. Now I really want to have my speeders different in colours but if you ask me this is just too much of a bother if it won't even last longer than a couple of days. (oh and yes, I store it and generate it quite a bit).

If you'd make the customisation permanent, then I'd definately start painting them again. And I like to play around with colours so I'd probably change colours every now and then.

As a consumer I can honestly say that you'll actually get more money out of me if the customisation is permanent.
