Thread: Who makes vendors?
How did you make a vendor? What skill box is it in? I'm an Eng 4, but can't make one from what I can see.
I don't see them anywhere else. What profession/level?
I may be wrong, but you have to get up in the Business rankings before you can place a vendor. A droid can be a vendor, but I think you may need to get into Droid Engineering to be able to make one.
Anyone know this? Am I misunderstanding how vendors work? Does the "Vendor +1" skill you get in business give you the ability to actually make them, or just to place one?
I can't find a schematic, so maybe there isn't one? Are they crafted, or does a businessman just place them somehow from nothing?
Do you have to place this house 1000m away from a city?
If so, how many customers are you likely to get if you are out in the middle of nowhere?
I guess you could find a collection of harvesters and place a shop there.
Maybe this will be more useful when we can make player cities. I'd be interested in knowing how that will be implemented.
The merchant class is real buggy atm..but if you have a house and get to business III you can place the starting Vendor(a big clunker of a machine)..they are supposed to show up on the Bazaar(they don't atm though) and I believe theres a max price of 3,000cr on an item in the bazaar.
So in a bit once the bugs are removed people will travel out of town to buy the items that nobody will sell for 3,000cr or less.
I bought a house, switched it from private to public access, and then placed the vendor from the house control panel(When you create the vendor at the panel, it places your vendor in your inventory to place somewhere in the house). It works fairly well(people can finally buy items I place and be able to retrieve the bought items from the vendor), but the grant vendor access doesn't seem to work. I granted access to someone else last night and they couldn't do anything extra with the vendor(like place THEIR items for sale). For those interested though, no 24 item limit like the bazaar, no fee to pay per item like the bazaar, and I can place an item up for 99999999 creds. I don't know if there is a limit to the number of items on the vendor, but I'm sure I'll find out at the worst possible time
.
You can place a terminal vendor when you are Bus III. You have the option of placing a robo bartender vendor when you are BusIV. And of course the merchant profession gives you a ton more options(hoping to master the Merchant profession with my character).
Yes you have to place your house outside the city, but mine is only a couple of minutes away from the city. I placed mine in a field of harvestors, because people will be out there checking on their harvestors and may stop by to buy stuff or to sit in peace and craft stuff(can't mine inside a house though thankfully).
Why would people want to shop at your shop instead of the bizaar? Simple. Low ticket items can be sold even cheaper since there is no bizarre fee of 20 creds. High ticket items can be sold for appropriate amounts of credits and not the max 3K creds of the bizaar. Also, you have stability for a product IF you require that product to do your trade. If I'm the only tailor selling synth cloth on the bizaar, I can only sale 24 slots of them. Ifeveryone buys up the 24 before I come back on line, you are out of luck. With my shop, you know that I can stock as many synth cloth as possible in my shop and if I'm sold out, I'm REALLY sold out. Once word gets around about your shop being available, others come and make offers for you to sale their goods(for a profit due to risk of course). This brings more people to buy THOSE products and have products of their own to sale. Voila, instant city
. At least that's what I'm hoping for.
