Ok, I just made 3 muzzles. The thing is I didn't have any mineral resources to use, so I used chemical resources. Does this count as experimentatio xp? Or does it just lower the quality of the item?

Hmm, you're not the only one who's confused.

How did you make something using the wrong resource type? Muzzles take 4 mineral and 6 chemical. As far as I know, you have to use both of those resources to make the item. You just can't do it with 10 chemical.

Experimentation is a totally different process. You can experiment on an item when you are using a specialized crafting tool and standing near a public crafting station.

Sorry, I ment to say I used metal for it. Either way, I dont think I should have been able to do it. But I have yet to ever been stopped from using metal as a substitute for the muzzle. Made about 20 so far.

If its mined with the mineral survey tool it's a mineral and will fill any generic 'mineral required' crafting slot.

Mineral is then broken down into low grade ore, gemstones, metal and radioactive (doing this off the top of my head, so that may be less than 100% accurate). If the crafting slot specifially asks for low grade ore, you can't use gemstones to fill it even though both are minerals.

Hope that helps.
