Thread: Price and Insurance Cost
What are the cost to insure items based on? If the insurance prices are static, will the sale price gravatate toward the insurance cost?
Any thoughts?
Insurance costs are, I believe, based on item complexity.
But you raise an interesting point. Insurance cost represents the replacement value of any given item that isn't auto-insured. It could indeed be utilized as a rough price guide.
That is an excellent idea!
Of course the laws of supply and demand will shift the actuall "value" of the item depending on the scarcity or abundance of the item.
The base value should be the insurance value amount - it is how much it would cost to get the item replaced, then adjusted for supply and demand.
So therefore it is how much the rest of the folks would be willing to spend to get a new one vs keeping the one they already have.
Since we are very supply side right now, the value will be lower. As they let more people into the server, demand will grow and prices can be raised.
Just briliant idea though

That is only if the Insurance cost is static. I would suggest the Devs make the insurance cost of an item a function of the average bazzar price with its current abundance on the server. It would be more realistic if it shifted with the economy. A real economist would be able to give them a proper formula to follow. Anywho thats my thoughts. Otherwise I think that the insurance price will end up being a neutral point for an items price.
