Try stepping (gasp) OUTSIDE the city! There's a whole world out there.

Which server are you on? afaik the resource deposits vary by server.

From what I understand, if the resource is listed in the particular survey tool to survey for, then it is definately on the planet.

You can find all of the resources listed in the tool on your planet.

Now, not all planets have all of the resources. When you go to another planet, the resource list will change, and you will be able to find some new types of resources and other resources that you were able to find may or may not be available in the list.
