These were a better idea during the holocron craze. Not too many people giving up lucrative combattant careers to become a crafter now.

However if you are going for an AS you might think about armors tailored to the mitigation levels of advancing players. "4232 smuggler? I have just the armor for you". And you might get in touch with some DEs and sell them crappy battle armor segments, so they can make good armor for thier droids (Once the current bug with them gets fixed)

Hello, I'm an AS that had an idea that I wanted to run by this forum, as this is where most resource and mining questions seem to be placed. I'm sorry if this is a commonly shot-down idea, but I guess that's the point of asking!

As my business is starting to mature a little and I find myself becoming more and more financially secure, I have a lot of harvies around that don't mean as much as they used to for my business. I also can't help but turn it on if there happens to be a 90%+ spawns of some resource that appeared on that spot, even if its useless to AS, I just sell it for 1 cpu grind.

Yesterday a guy came into my shop, excited that he had finally gathered all his resources for his grind. He's been traveling all over the galaxy looking for the right amounts at the right price. We've all been there. That gave me the idea of resource packs.

My plan was to look up the individual grind practices used by each crafting profession. I will figure out how much of each resource is needed to complete those grinds and mine the high quality spots. I have a combat toon that I use solely for helping guildies grind and collect organics with while I do that. I will take all the resources, put them in a pack and advirtise on the trade forums. I'd sell it at 1cpu per inorganic and maybe 2cpu for organic. There you go, one stop shopping for your grinding needs.

Granted, this won't be cheap to the consumer and is mostly for older players who can pay for it all up front, but I believe there is enough of those to make that profitable. I'd probably need to have some pre-made emails, or instructions on the trade post about which grinding technique the resources are geared for...

How does that sound? I know it's alot of resources...and I don't expect to make them overnight, but I think it will work. Anyone see a problem with my thinking?

Thanks!

After I got started I would put 1k of grind steel, copper etc on the mos eisley for 2-3cpu.

It was something I looked for when I was grinding. But that was over a year ago when you stated with 1 perfession (artisan) and about 1200 credits.

2-3cpu? Thats not grinding prices in my eyes.

1cpu is a good price so the idea of grinding packs is good.

For architect, you'd want any type of low-grade ore, and any type of gemstone, and lots of it, in a ratio of 2:1 ore to gemstone.

Yeah, I currently have low amount 1 cpu resources for sale to help out the newbie, but these packs would be geared more for the experienced player that is starting an alt for their guild, or something like that. With the lack of split combat/artisan templates anymore, there are more and more popping up. I want to make it cheap, 1 cpu only because it's a lot of resources...maybe two for harvested stuff, and sell them cheap. I want to put them in a pack so they grinder would have to buy the whole thing at that super low price (there is very little 1 cpu grind material on my server) and Icould limit the problem or resellers. It won't be my main business, but something I can try to do when my harvies are idle.

Only way to stop resellers is to ban them from your mall but how alt's do they have?

Some professions are going to take more resources than others making it more/less viable. Tailor for instance takes 313,000 units of resources and Architect takes about 800,000. I started a new toon a month ago am just starting my Tailor grind and I have over 500,000 credits in the bank. I would have been able to afford and willing to pay the 313,000 credits upfront to get everything I needed when I was starting my grind. I'd want to hear about you via word of mouth a couple times or something similar so I trusted everything was in the pack because as far as I know we can't see in the backpacks. The other 1cpu listings on the vendor would help validate that though. Don't forget to color the name on the backpacks because it shows up in the bazaar listing.

Good luck!
