Hey I was just wondering in a CA what is the difference between XXX assembly and XXX exp. I know that experimentation can add more points but what is assembly for.

Thanks.

Some of the crafting rules have changed so those aren't as good as they used to be. But they used to be for increasing the likelihood of a successful build.

The +assembly tapes improve your success rates on the initial assembly. This determines your starting point, which you can then improve with experimentation.

Whether they're useful or not seems to depend on the particular crafting prof. From my experience, once you +100 to your assembly mod (44xx artisan or Master of the elites) you generally get "great" assembly success the majority of the time. Tapes improve your chances on getting an "amazing success", but that doesn't always improve your starting percentages/stats. Chef items don't get any improvement, and artisan items don't seem to either. I think weaponsmiths do see improved starting stats, and maybe armorsmiths too. Tailor tapes don't give any benefit, since clothing doesn't have any experimentable stats. Architects seem to be tied to artisan experimentation for the few items they can experiment on (harvesters and crafting stations).
