What you are thinking of is called Interplantary Survey Droids. They are probably not listed on the bazaar but if you search on the vendors you should be able to find some (most likely under Misc and in factory crates but I am just guessing).
Here is a littlt bit of information that I copied from Drashk's Droid 101 guide.
Interplanetary Survey Droid
This is a multi-use item that gives a Novice Artisan the ability to receive information on resources that are present on a different world. Use of this droid requires a tool of the resource type that the droid is sent out to investigate. After the droid performs its duty, it sends out an E-mail that lists all resources that are found to be present. This item does not give stats or concentrations of the listed resources.
The time that the droid takes to complete its survey is based on 3600 - (27 * Quality) in seconds.
Example An ISD with a Quality rating of 40 will produce a list of resources in 42 minutes. 3600 - 1080 {27*40} = 2520 / 60 seconds = 42 minutes.
