As most of you noticed we fell victim to a hacker sometime between today and yesterday. Using an exploit in the version of vBulletin we were running he was able to put his own code in to one of the configuration settings and basically take over the whole site. Since the main site also uses the forum code as it's base code that was affected as well.

Thanks to the very rigid database backup routine we use it means we have only lost just over a days worth of resources and forum posts. I restored the database backup from yesterday morning, which looks unaffected by the hack so far. I have also updated the forum code to the latest version in an attempt to prevent any future hacks. If you spot any problems let me know.

I'm also going to set myself up with reminders to make sure that the forum code stays up to date as possible. In hindsight that should have been done from the outset. Unfortunately no system is hackproof, so staying as up to date as possible is the only possible defense.

Thanks for all your emails of support. It was quite a shock to wake up this morning and be presented with a lovely red on black scheme instead of the usual one

Update: It looks like the avatars have corrupted somewhere between the database back and restore. I'm not sure if I can get the old ones back, so if yours is corrupt please upload it again.
