I once had my mineral survey tool get bugged. I made a new one on the spot. It worked while the old one was still bugged. I deleted the old one and got on with surveying.

I've had problems twice in the last week and a half with surveying using a specific hotbuttoned tool. You tell it to survey and it does absolutely nada. The first time it happened, I made another tool and deleted the old one. The second time, it was the nice quest tool from the Village quest, and there was NO way I was going to delete it. Logging off *does* work to reset the durn thing, thankfully, when it goes south like that.
