Thread: placing harvesters
Well here's what I do when placing a harvester of any kind:
- Survey for the resource I want to harvest
- Find the highest spot I can (this usually takes a good 5-10 minutes of running around chasing the highest concentrations
- Find a flat area at or near the highest concentration... sometimes you have to settle for less-than-highest if the area is not flat.
- Stand in the general area you'd like to place, and then face north.
- Get an idea for what's around you (i.e. trio of rocks to my right, a bantha to my left) and then use the deed you wish to place.
- The overhead map that comes up next will ALWAYS be show with north at the top, south at the bottom, etc. This is why you want to get a bearing on what was around you as it can sometimes be disorienting. Any area that is close to a lair or POI spawn or that is taken by other structureswill show up as yellow and black diagonal lines. You can't place here. Look for a clear spot on the map and place your harvester's footprint over it. If it's red, you cannot place. If it's green, you can most likely place.
- Place your harvester(s). My first step is to rename them. Then, I follow up by putting down three days worth of maintenance and, if applicable, three days worth of power. Then I select the resource to harvest and turn on the harvester.
Also a side note: don't delete the waypoint that automatically gets put into your datapad as it is given to you so you can find your newly placed harvester.
I hope that helps you out!
No misinformation, hehe. I didn't say anything about spawn "date". It's not really known exactly when there will ever be a resource cycle, especially with how goofy it can be now. I remember a few weeks ago Tatooine alone cycled 4 times in about a week and a half.
If I had said something like "the resource will always be there" then I'd have misinformed.
Sorry for leaving that out though... Cerion is right. If you can't afford to redeed the harvester(s), then be sure the resource will be there for more than a day or two.
Smuggler's advice has some misinformation in it (unintentional I'm sure).
You must know the spawn date of the resource you wish to harvest to be absolutely safe. If you do not know the spawn date of the resource, you risk loosing a lot money to a depleted mine.
A resource cycle lasts a minumum of five days and a maximum of 10 days. If you find a recently spawned resource, then you have 5 days of worry free mining
.
One more note. When you are in the top down mode for placing structures, you can right click to rotate the structure. This helps sometimes in placing a rectangular structure.
I just made a new mineral Extractor but ervery time I try to use it it complains that I can't use it in my curret state. does anyone know what its talking about?
I haven't got any wounds or battle fatigue....and I can't work out what's its talking about. Any help would be appreicated
It means you need to stop moving for a few seconds and try again.

How do you know where to build a harvester?I bought a couple of deeds and when I try to use them it keeps telling me:building not permitted here or:you cannot place a harvester in your current state. what does that mean how do I know where I can build harvesters? Thanks,Tim G.
- building not permitted here
You are in the no build radius of a NPC City, or a POI. NPC Cities vary from 500 meeters to 1500m, most POI have a 500 m no build radius. Just keep moving fruther out from the city till you get past that message.
- cannot place a harvester in your current state
You have to be standing still, not on a mount/vehicle. Give it a couple of seconds then try again.

O.k. here's a very nOOb question. How do i power up the harvester? I know i need to get power, but what does the power look like on the vendor? Is it one of those that says energy (solar) etc... Don't laugh I been 100% combet for just about as long as i've been playin.
