Thread: Popular Minerals and what stats to look for
I can answer for the architect point of vue. For us it's either Unit Toughness+ Shock Resistance+Heat Resistance for metals and ores for our harvesting components or either Conductivity or Overall Quality for some other stuffs. Of course, for a lot of our products and parts, we don't need quality, we need quantity.

The thing is that the same specific material may have different strengths. It's quite a struggle to recall or find how something new compares to something old.
I'm not sure what exactly you mean. As an example, I'm a resource miner who wants to support armorsmiths. I go to swgcraft.com and write down all the schematics resources needed for AS and what the important stats are to be looking for. I then check to see what is currently spawning on my galaxy and notice that their is some Neutronium Steel spawning. I check the list I made and noticed that Neutronium steel is used in Primus Layers. I know the demand for Primus layered armor is high, so I look at my list to see what stats are important. I find out that it is OQ/SR at a 50/50 ratio. This current spawn is 948 OQ and 750 SR. I look at the SR cap of the Neutronium steel (around 765) and I know this stuff is Uber!!! I grab as much of it as possible and sell it to AS's for 25 cpu!
This has nothing to do with something old and this is how I made money till I got established in my own AS business (and I still do it a little). Yeah, granted it takes some work and research, but you aren't going to make money as a crafter/resource guru in this game without doing so.

What I would suggest is get familiar with the schematic trees on SWGcraft.com. Everybody has different needs and this is a great place to learn them. Know what stats people are looking for and try to get them. As an Armorsmith (and I think weaponsmith is in the same boat) we have to collect a lot of named resources. For example, we can't use just "aluminum" in some of our schematics, but use "phrik aluminum".
I do a little bit of a mining business just to help support the other crafters of the guild. I went throught the schematics in each profession and made a list of what named and unamed resources they need, and what stats they are interested. When a resource dries up on some of my harvies, I look to swgcraft.com to see what named resourced are spawining and what the stats are and put back down on the best ones. You get alot of those special named resources with a good quality and people will pay alot for them! I recently searched the bazaar and the cheapest Chanlon ore for sale was 1,000 cpu!
I would suggest picking one profession at first to target and focus on getting the resources they would need (again, armorsmith's pay well for their resources and is a good place to start) and if nothing good is spawning, grab steel that you can ALWAYS sell to shipwrights!
