I agree, it needs to be reduced.
I spent about 45 minutes to get a little over 500 carbonaceous asteroid the other night, because asteroids were bugged and I'd only get about 3 big chunks to break off, then nothing would pop out for me no matter how many times I shot it with the mining laser. I spent most of my time travelling back and forth between asteroids to get 500 units, and that's not even enough for 50% of a repair kit.
The requirements for this kit are lame, in my opinion. And a VERY nasty thing to do to newbie players, who are excited they get this cool new bike - then a stupid MOB blows it up. And it's like, "hey new guy, that'll be 100,000 credits mwahahaha."
And for the record, I saw someone last night repair their BARC from disabledat a garage. That's BUNK. I can attest to this because my friend was the one who disabled it. And we told the gal to give the repair a shot at the garage. Bingo, full health and no longer disabled BARC speeder. Bunk.

when you stop getting chunks, keep shooting the roid. if you /examine it you can see the hp remaining. when you get to 0, it will explode and a fresh one will spawn in.
and that is an insane amt of resources considering what a pita mining is.

It stopped spawning chunks at around 3000/6000 hp.
One of the other asteroids I was at had a guy who'd been at it for a couple of hours. We both blasted it but could never get it below around 1000/6000 hp - it was just stuck.
Not sure what's up, but I'll try to just keep blasting it and see what happens.
