Thread: Quick question about density

The BER (Base Extraction Rate) of harvesters is actually measured in units per minute. No one has any idea what "KG / hr" is supposed to mean relative to what we actually see from them.
So a BER 13 Harvester on a 70% concentration will extract:
13 * 0.70 * 60 = 546 units per hour.
And that's why shipwright is hard.
One quick note also, based on the above calculations of BER 13's on a 70% spot, (this is how i figure how many units i would get)...
You get 1000 Units Per BER per day on a 70% spot... thus, using sciguyCO's formula, that comes to approx 13104 (546 x 24)... That works out a per day amount for you as well... so if you have 8 heavies in a 70% spot, that's 104k/day... (full 24 hrs)..

You know, I never thought to estimate it out that way, I've always just kept a calculator next to my PC. That's a handy rule of thumb I'll have to remember. Although technically it's 1000 units per BER per day on a 69.4% spot or 1008 units per BER per day on a 70%, but what's a little fudging between friends. ![]()
BER * Percent * 60 * 24 = BER * 1000
Percent * 1440 = 1000
Percent = 0.694444...
{I can't help it, I'm a math nerd}

Hehe.. that's ok..
... I'm a math nerd too... The 1000/BER/day was given to me from a friend when i had no clue how to calculate... Yeah, i know on a 69.4% spot that's exact, but i aint counting.
Heh, if you want to see math calculations, you should see the thread in Valcyn_Trade, which explains the cost of POWER vs the cost of a No Power Harv Kit (they were getting up to 3 mil when they first came out, dropped to 500K, and now are back up to between 1M and 1.5M... ), and how much you spend a year and so forth...
Heh Elyssa, that does make sense... although i have to add a step.
1) Find highest possible density using 10/13 BER (personal preference).
2) Place harvesters.
3) Add maint only.
4) Add no power harv kit to harvester
5) Check back later/Withdraw resources.
I think i collected 18 of those no power harv kits (with a main and an alt), i never have to worry about power.. ![]()
I'm sorry Gunfiter, this is getting off topic... I hope all of our conversations has helped you figure out what you need to know for your resources... It does take time to get all the resources needed...
As a hardcore miner (no lot trades
), always having to find the best places for all the items you need to grind can take a lot of time. One suggestion would be to look for SW resources only. The spawnactually lasts longer than the rest of the items (ie: Conductive Borbactic Copper, Gravitonic Fiberplast (this one lasted me 3 weeks last year)... ). Then you don't have to move them around as often. Plus, you are mining the Shipwright resources, so you can play with those resources while grinding.
Good luck!

Bingo! Maximum resources, minimum math!

This, of course, being the part that's easier said than done. ![]()
