I found out about this by accident, but you can survey and craft at the same time! I was grinding survey and had to leave for a few min as my 2 year old knocked something down and was crying. After about 20 min I came back and started to craft. Well I noticed while crafting that I was getting survey spam! So maybe survey wont be so bad with this two for one bonus!

You can do pretty much everything while surveying that you can do while kneeling.

You can sample on a speeder or mount, but does cause other problems. It tends to cause a looping bug till you dismount and then stand up from kneeling.

I don't fully recommend doing that way unless your in a very dangerous area and your just checking to see if the resource is worth collecting because your just decaying your vehicle sitting out waiting for you.

But if you didn't know, the devs have made a change where we can survey on a mount or vehicle which has greatly speed up a lot of us old timers survey times by a great deal. No more stop, dismount, survey, mount, and go with the possility of running way from mr. angry critter.

Yeah you can survey while crafting. I did that the other day when I started my new toon and grinded him to Master Artisan. I just put him on a survey macro, advertising the Bomb droid crates I'm selling on the bazaar, while I went and did other things around the house
