Thread: A former practicing Master Artisan writes with offer of aritsan support ...

I used to be a master artisan but ditched it in favour or scout / squad leader pre CU.

I have a couple of queries...

Firstly: Myself and my guildmates are looking at refreshing our guild. I had the idea of being an artisan support guild of sorts. Providing resources, crafting stations, offering to do harvester and factory runs etc. The guild and town would benefit as I think the % of sales would go into town bank account. In addition to what appears to be the standard free house etc. what would incensitives or support would new or existing artisans or smiths be looking for? We appreciate the fact that we need smiths and artisans for armour, powerups etc. etc. and it would be nice to give the loot/ resources we have accumulated to some people who need it.

Secondly: This is in reference in part to the BARC speeder repair kit. I bought the total experience and recieived my shiny new BARC speeder. It was great until some elite merc. on rori disabled it. Question is not how much is one to buy, the question is what resources does it need? and if resources were provided to you what would be the standard 'assembly' charge? Thinking about the labour costs of a piece of work as opposed to the material cost. Would this be something that you think artisans would consider?

-Edit

I should really pay attention to other posts, shouldn't I. Okay 750 Carbonaceous Asteroid and 750 Petrochemical Asteroid. We have at least two guild members who have wookies expansion and have been mining so I'm pretty sure we can cover the materials. (and get more besides if you require)

Many thanks for your thoughts...

Good Plan there sir.

As a master Carb/MBH I can tank just about anything you are likley to wander into on the more hostile planets, so i'm game. And i have a spare 2 person speeder should yours go boom.

And yes i will harvest boring minerals in space for a reasonable fee.([4333 Freelance] and i have a large cargo hold for a fighter already)

I think it is great idea and what SWG should be all about. It'll free up crafters to concentrate there templates only on craftering professions and ignore the combat skills.

Of course it would be even more ideal if your guild also had specific merchants who sold the items and any additional resources, then crafters wouldn't have to waste skillsto run vendors!

All I can say is that if there are any guilds or cities on Chilastra who want to do this, then let me know!

I'm very glad you mention the point about vendors.

I still maintain the merchant column of artisan and I am able to run two vendors, we are planning on having one of these vendors selling resources at reasonable prices. (Not sure what price that would be yet as i've not worked out the costs). I may take up Merchant again if need be.

The other vendor will be availble for selling goods. Currently I have a very fine range of stuff there

We were throwing about ideas, perhaps having a sales tax only rather than the other taxes. So you pay income tax rather than council tax If there are any aritsans on Flurry or other interested parties then please drop me or Okax an in game email

Having only dabbled in Artisan over a year ago, what are fair prices for minerals etc?

I mean if i spend an hour avoiding pirates and blasting away at an asteroid for say... 1000 units (total guess) then what is a fair price to sell them? As a MBH i can take an NPC mission for 30k and do that in 15 mins. So I can earn 120k / hour. so if i mine 1000 units do i charge 120k for those? Prob a bit steep but you'll get my point.

Obvoiusly and bit more back on topic the Guild pilots will help anyone who wants to tier up their ship so they can harvest their own space minerals.

Thats a great idea, I bought SWG a few weeks ago and spend most of my time crafting and surveying, and you know what, I love it! I would love to be part of something like that.

That was the problem I had when starting artisan, what sells, and what is worth making.
The most common things I buy are stims, armour, swoops, weapon powerups, brandy and canapes. Most common things I sell are swoops, posters and bits for rugs.

Swoops are good sellers for me, either sell em by the crate or seprately everybody likes a shiny swoop. Especially when they get blown up on dath.

That's one of the problems with the game, crafters basically want to spend their time crafting (because we love it), but they end up having to grind other professions so that they either don't get killed collecting resources or setting up a vendor. I say let crafters do what they love doing, let scouts do what they love and let merchants do what they love!

Hopefully if we can get these cities and guilds setup that split up the work, neryone will be happy!

All I can say is wow! Seeing all of this support to the crafters is good for the heart. There are many things, even with my master titles, I can not make due to the easy mark we are. My husband use to help a lot but he's off on other games taking a break for now.

I just wanted to let you guys know, from a crafter's perception.. at least this crafter.. this is fantastic! I would even be so bold as to suggest you go to your galaxy forums and put a nice appealing post there with the same information. I would put it in the galaxy trade to get the word out. *these are all just my opinions, take them for what they are worth, lol*

Maybe this would be good for a barker droid or two on starting planets. Maybe even go to the other gaming sites where other mmo gamers might be use to getting their information. I'm just one person in a teeny-tiny PA we have more or less just for the *mall* I am setting up. Just thinking about how much fun it would be to be in a position to do this for a larger crafting community, man this is great!
