Thread: yes more barc talk: how much is a barc worth?

a few days ago i went to eisley and to my surprise it was different. anyway after doing a few of the npcs quests that were meant for new players, i stopped to look around at the noobs and everyone else. one guy was spamming to buy a barc and he was offering 500k for one. i didnt think his offer was fair to the noobs, even av21s go for more than that.
i think some guy was going to take the offer but i advised against it. normally i dont do things like thathowever i dont like to see people take advantage of othersin that. if only it wasnttradeable then noobs couldnt be cheated.then again some people might think 500k is enough :/

I still see them going for 3+ million but I guess it will vary by server.

I think you did the right thing... if someone who knows its value wants to sell it for 500k then that's one thing, but it really sounds like that guy was just hanging out inthe newbie spawn locationtrying to take advantage of a newbie.
The average price on Wanderhome seems to be around 5-7 million. Personally, I'm paying 9 million for mine, but that's just because I don't feel like stalking auctions for days worrying that someone else is going to take the buyout.
In any event, I do agree with you that these should not have been tradeable. Personally, I don't like that they've given newbies something that's so rare that they're "worth" millions and millions of credits. I think that really does the new players a diservice; for me one of the greatest parts about being new was earning everything for myself and working my way up from a penniless artisan who thought that 50k was a huge windfall of cash to someone who throws around millions of credits on something as silly as a novelty speeder.
And yes, I do realize that it makes me somewhat hypocritical to say that I think the speeders should be non-tradeable only to turn around and buy one anyway. I'll say two things in my defense:
- If they were a no trade item I would never have one and I would be just fine with that.
- I'm not buying mine from a newbie.

Yeah, newbs are getting shafted out of ignorance, but that's life, isn't it? Me, on the other hand, wanted to buy one but didn't want to pay some shmoe that nicked one off a newb for 500k. I went to Mos Eisley and dickered with one of those guys selling them thereto see how low he wouldgo,The lowest I got him was 4 milfor 2 of them, although he did agree to 7 mil for 2 one time but then backed up to 4 mil. He was offering 100k to newbs for them. So I started spamming I would buy one for 3 mil, got a seller within 5 minutes, guess I should have started lower. 
About newbs getting millions? I was just happy to give this guy a fair price for his BARC. After all, what do newbs do with that kind of money? SPEND IT!!! And as anyone who follows US politics goes, spending money is good for the economy! (atleast that's what they keep telling us) I'm sure that 3 million will go to good use buying armor and weapons or whatever newbs buy, that are made by other players. This game is for players to have fun, not for players to suffer, so who cares if they got credits the easy way? They DID pay for it when they bought the game and if you translate the game price to current credits being sold on ebay, the BARC costs alot more than 3 million.

I have a good question. How much is the barc repair kit worth?
If the Barc Speeder is worth millions then should it cost millions to bring it back from disabled?
After all if you pay 3 million for an av-21 it will cost you 3 million to get a new one to replace the disabled one.
I presently sell the BARC repair kits for 1 million and have sold 2 in the 2 days i have been selling them. I first thought this was extremly overpriced untill i seen the price the speeders were selling for. Thinking of raising my price to the same that the going rate of the barc speeders are selling for or untill someone else starts selling them for cheaper and has them listied in the vendor search. I really didnt think anyone would buy the kits for 1 million.

Well, the price of the repair kits is irrelevant when you can make them yourself. The problem is that they require asteroid chunks, which are spawning at a very low rate right now. That may or may not change.

whoever bought the kits must be really really stupid.

my test with my barc was if it gets disabled the gargae will not repair it and that is were the kits come in.
i agree whoever bought it must be stupid the same as someone who buys an av-21 for millions and buys another 1 becasue first one got destroyed(disabled)
