I'm posting this here since the whole 'camo kits for non-rangers' was pitched pretty much at the crafting players.
I've picked up numerous cheap Dathomir camo kits thinking they would help me with my trips the village (which, post-CU, is certain death unless I'm grouped with another player) well yesterday I had the chance to try them out.
Not impressed to put it bluntly. I saw no benefit over my mask scent skill (I have scout 2000 for this purpose alone) in that the camo broke the minute I came into range of anything I might be able to hide from, the _only_ benefit is that you can apply then while in a vehicle (good job too because youre going to be applying them very frequently).
The only thing I can think of (and feel free to correct me on this) is if the quality of camo kits makes a difference (in which case I must have really bad ones)

Like I said before when they first announced it.
Camo kits won't help ya...the only difference is it will make is that you will be closer to the beastie when the kit fails.
Survivability is still still the main issue here.
I said it somwhere in this post.

As a Master Ranger I don't even use camo kits on my MAS (CL1)alt when he goes surveying.
The most effective thing you can do is group with a CL80 prior to going out to survey and service harvestors.
Just this weekend I was out with my Alt on Endor placing harvestors and sat on my swoop less than 17 meters from Arachne Warriors while placing my harvestors.
The key is having a CL higher than the mob to mitigate damage, and cause theMOB to use the non aggro portion of their AI because your CL is higher than theirs.

With camo kits the faster you go the better chance the critters have of breaking it. So if you walk slowly, you have a better chance in going undetected. . .of course the down side to this is if you are walking slowly past a rancor and step on a twig 5 feet from it, you're pretty much toast.
There is no quality difference with camo kits. A camo kit is a camo kit. The only thing that can be different is the number of uses per unit.
Oh and if you crawl there is even less chance of it breaking. This would only be handy in cases where you've got some unfriendly mobs right next to your harvester or whatever. Put the camo on and crawl up to your harvester and do what needs to be done then crawl away.
