what skills do i need to be able to experiment when crafting? i've got engineering I, and the accompanying artisan experimentation bonuses, but i still don't see any way to do it.

1) No special skills required. You need a specialized crafting tool. Clothing & Armor **edit** 'done experimenting'. You can then choose to create a schematic (used in factories..wouldn't worry about it just yet) or create a prototype.

reposting this..i don't know why It's getting cut off. Also, whatever profantiy filter they've got in..shrugh..i have NO idea why it's editing

I am basically a marksman but I do a bit of crafting for stuff I need in the field (traps, camps, stims, etc...). I have started wanting to make some weapon power-ups, and I know to get better ones I need to do experimentation. I know I need to use a public crafting station to do this, but I can't figure out how.

I have been told that I need to stand near the station, bring up my crafting tool, create the item and that I will be given the option to experiment.

The problem is is that I have done this and it doesn't seem to work. I'm sure it's quite obvious as to what I am doing wrong, but I can't figure it out.

Do I have to use a specific tool for a specific station (ie: weapon crafting tool at the weapon station)? I have a general tool and have used it at a general station with no success.

I would really appreciate any help on this!

Thanks!

You must use a specialized crafting tool (i.e.- A weapon crafting tool near a weapon crafting station). Also, if you are using a general crating tool, those dont allow you to experiment on an item, only specialized crafting tools allow for experimentation.
