Thread: Trouble Placing Wind Generator and Chemical Extractor
I had found a spot that's got good mineral and chemical resources, and while I was able to place my mineral extractor, I wasn't able to place my chemical extractor. Kept tellimg me I can't build there or something.. but I got that "error" after the placement screen. I chose an area that was all green, so why would it not let me place the chemical extractor, but would allowme to place the mineral extractor nearby?
Also, I was trying to place a wind generator nearby so I can power my two extractors since I don't have any power... but it wouldn't let me place that either... anyone know why??? Same error as with the chemical extractor, after the placement screen.
And since I can't power my extractors right this sec I was curious what other sources of power are available in a pinch. I went to the bazaar and I see resource containers. Other than the wind generators would I purchase one of these type of energy containers and load that into my extractor?
Different types of harvesters have different size footprints. Think of it like a building's foundation. The small mineral harvester seems to have the smallest footprint and hence is the easiest to place. Wind is larger so more difficult to find a spot for. As the harvester sizes increase, so does the difficulty in placing them.
As to the problem of the placement screen showing green and then getting the "can't build message" when placing it, not sure. I'm usually not able to open the placement grid if it is a no build area, although having the grid open doesn't insure there being a green placement available for the harvester.
Hope that made sense ![]()
Kasuta, he's not experiencing the 'running' bug. He is able to call up the overhead placement screen.
Here are two possible situations:
1). You have no more free lots. Have you reached your 10 lot maximum?
2). Are you trying to place a structure close to a city's no build perimeter? What I mean here is that you can travel out to the no-build perimeter, stand on the invisible border, and still call up the overhead placement screen. The no build zones will still appear green in the overhead view, though if you try to build on these, you will get the message "you cannot build here" or some such.
Hope that helps.
hmmm, Iggep, that sounds like a bug to me then. Unless you were near that hidden Jedi city.
