Thread: Personal Harvester Power requirements

I'm reasonably new to the world of Harvesters, so I may just be ignorant, but I think I've noticed something strange.

I understood that the Power and Maintenance "rates" were /per half-hour. When I first started planting harvesters, I'd just multiply these numbers by 48 for a full 24-hours of harvesting, and this worked just fine. Maintenance Status said "1 day...", and Power Status said "1:00" or "0:24".

But in the past couple of days I've noticed my Power lasting much longer than I thought it would... twice as long. It appears now that Power rates are /per hour rather than /per half-hour...

Has something changed? Or am I hopelessly confused?

Or does the power source I'm using have anything to do with it? I'm working on Corellia (Chilastra) and have been using the Wind Power that had been available up until a recent shift (I forget the name).

I'm very confused by Power as well. I've been told that 1:0 power == 1 day. Which is 0:60. Yeah this makes no sense. But, A small harvester should only cost 1200 Power a day. Yet, if you put in 1200 Pow, the meter says something like 0:50. Does anyone actually have a real answer?

--- DEV REQUEST ---

Screw this half hour calculation crap. I want a window that says, "How many hours, days, do you want your Harvester to run for?" I tell it, 3d, 6h. And it removes what ever amount of money that is from my bank.

Why must you torment us with this calculation crap?

First, the indicator of power reads in 60 hour blocks for some reason. So, if you have 1:23 power remaining, you have (1) 60 hour block + 23 leftover hours = 83 total hours.

Secondly, I can't recall exactly how much power these things require per day but I know it's not 1200, it's closer to 700. Check out www.swgcraft.com, they have an awesome harvester resource calculator there.

And if my memory serves me right, the calculator at swgcraft.com will tell you 1200 power for a Personal Harvester.

I just checked it and it says 600 per day for a personal harvester, 1200 for a medium.

AH ha! So that means the Power Rate IS /per hour, and not /per half-hour.

Nice to know I'm not completely insane. Not yet, at any rate.

Small harvester 600 per day.

Medium harvester 1200 per day.

Large harvester 1800 per day.

That is how much fuel will be eaten to keep the machine running for 24 hours. It is important to note that time stands still while the servers are down, so harvesters do not collect material, burn maintainance and burn fuel at all if the servers are down for maintainance or a patch or something.

That can't be right. I just dropped 3k wind into a personal harvester and it's going to run for 2 days and a few hours. That figures to just over 1k/day

Dex, does the readout for power look something like.... 2:0 ?? If it does, then this in fact 5 days of power, plus whatever extra you had.

More clearly: 3k wind power at 600 power/day (for a small harvester) = 5 days. How it shows up on the harvester status screen is a little crazy::::: The left of the colon reports 60hr increments. To the right of the colon is actual hours. It's a base 60 system for what ever reason. Every 60 hours of power on the right of the colon, adds one point to the left side of the colon. So if we figure your situation in reverse, 3k power = 5 days of power. 5 days of power = 120 hours of power (5 X 24). 120 hours of power = 2:0 in the notation of the harvester status ( 120 / 60 = 2 ).

So I think what you have is 5 days of power plus change, not 2 days.

Yaknow, for all the sense that this will make to the average user, they might just as well have used the StarWars font for the readout. It wouldn't be that much more of a pain to figure out, really.

Just a thought here as I am not a big harvester, I just dabble a bit to get the resources I need for making some medical items... Is this magical 60 hour figure something to do with the resource shifting time? Like, if you put up the harvester just after a shift and then put in 60 hours of power, will that be just right till the next resource shift? Guess I am talking nonsense
