Thread: Working around too many clicks in crafting (txt)

I'm a very keyboard oriented person, so after doing some Experimentation (pardon the pun) with the crafting process, I found that the Enter key is indeed my friend. (And can be yours too!)

I'll describe the crafting process that I go through, step by step, telling where you can press Enter:

1) F4 to boot my crafting machine (your shortcut keys may vary)

2) [ENTER] if I'm making the same product I just finished making (which is the case if I'm grinding)

3) Double-click on the appropriate resources to load them into the resource slots. Dragging is too slow.

4) [ENTER] to move on

5) [ENTER] again to clear the "amazing success" message

6) Click with mouse on experiment (you could just press [ENTER] if you wanted to skip experimentation)

7) Click on experimentation box(es)

8) [ENTER] to do the experiment

9) [ENTER] to clear the experimentation results message

10) Repeat steps 7-9 until all experimentation points are spent

11) [ENTER] to finish the experimentation phase

12) [ENTER] to create a Prototype

13) [ENTER] to accept the default name for the item and make it (if you need to choose a color, you'll need to click the color first)

Anyway, minus the experimentation clicks, that's only 3-4 actual mouse clicks and the rest can be your hand on the [ENTER] key. (The one where you type words, not the numeric keypad one.)

If you find that you can't press Enter where I've said you can, sometimes that happens because the User interface "focus" has shifted some place else. Fix that by clicking anywhere on the current crafting screen and resume [ENTER]ing.

Hope that helps!

I don't experiment when i'm grinding, thats saves quite a bit of time

Er wait... I don't grind anymore, I made master weaponsmith three days hence. I amend my statement; when I *was* grinding...

Make a macro. Excellent for grinding and only requires 2-4 clicks depending on the number of resource slots the schematic has.

Jedi will be rare and difficult - No
Increased Dev communication - No
CU will balance combat - No
Most of the bugs from launch fixed - No
saintchuck will continue to pay - No

- I supported the CURB, the Devs and the attempt to make SWG a better game and have realized it didn't work so I'm quitting in less than 2 days and won't be tricked into coming back again. Trick me once, shame on you...

Even if you aren't grinding, sometimes speed crafting is important; especially if you are making subcomponents for stims and the like. Nothing wrong with reducing the chances of getting carpal tunnel. =)

For those of you who don't know how to use macros to help
with speed crafting, check out this post:
