I tried a crafting message yesterday and I couldn't complete it. I got the mission, went to the first NPC and got the three components and the schematic. I opened up my general crafting tool and tried to find the item to craft, but I couldn't find it anywhere. How do I activate the schematic?

I had trouble with this last night. I got a mission to make a "connection modulator" (or something like that. I got the parts, but couldn't fint the scematic to make it. I finally went through my whole scematic list very carefully and discovered I had one for a "coupling modulator". I tried that one and it required exactly the components I had received and did, in fact complete the mission. I don't remember the exact names, but the point is that the name of the item listed in the mission was different, but similar, to the actual scematic I got. So look through your scematic list really carfully and you might still find it there.

Where did you find it? In the "Generic Items" tab?

Yeah, the quest items tend to show up right below your chance cube and other dice. Go figure. =)
