Thread: There's no way to get more than the 20-40, sometimes 41 survey xp?

If I put a harvester or such up, will it give me any xp, or just more resources? I did the three crafting branches in 30 or so minutes, but I've been doing the surveying whole night long. I dun like the idea of leaving computer on and doing work for me while Im not attending, but this is getting frustrating to grind =)

Thanks

just leave computer on and do work for you while your not attending. thats what everybody else has to do since there is no human way to get surveying 4 without AFKing it. at least, no human way to "play" a game by sampling. if it required some sort of skill or user interaction maybe it would be interesting enough for people to actually do it instead of it being an AFK art.

harvesters are to get resources, not xp

Just a thought - try playing the game, survey as you look for things and travel around. If all you are playing for is to max out as fast as possible, grind away and put the game away next week when you are done. For those who like to play, it can be done in a couple days, you can see the galaxy and find some nice locations with high percentages of rare resources that are really worth some credits.

I agree with Sit. I'm about 2/3s into Survey IV and have never really gone out of my way to grind it. Mostly I'll do the odd dig while waiting for shuttles and so on, or in a camp. I just like the curiosity aspect of it all; 'Am I standing on riches?'

I do survey missions a lot, and also have a full fleet of Harvesters I need to be moving around. All you have to do is remember to get a few samples everytime you ping the Survey. It is slower than the other paths in Artisan, yes, but soon takes care of itself if you have other things to be getting on with out there anyway.

I can sympathise with Holocron Surveyors though; as a straight-up 'let's get this over with' skill, it is up there with Entertainer as a nightmare boredom grind; especially if you don't want to be an Artisan anyway.

Ways to speed Surveying up:

- Sample on as high a concentration as possible; this reduces the 'not founds'.

- Get a Medic to Uberbuff your Action Pool; this means you can keep going longer.

- Craft as you dig; you can be getting on with the other three paths while you Get Sample, saving time allround.

- Macro; I don't know any surveying macros, and they are tricky to write, as every so often you get a 'anti-afk' popup window that needs to be answered. I'm sure there are macros out there though.

Sit,

your post brought a tear of nostalgia to my eye....I remember believing that sentiment 2 weeks after game launch.....oh well, now reality sets in, lol.

Most people who are grinding now, do it because some little blue cube (holo) told them to. This person probably got "mastser artisan" from the holo and just wants to burn through it.
