Hey, guys! I just put up my first vendor, and though I used the 'initialize vendor' option, I still cannot use it. Whenever I try, it says 'vendor not initialized.' Anyone know what I can do?

Thanks!

So what you're saying is I have Novice Artisan (15 skill points) and three boxes of Business (2+3+4 = 9 skill points) so I can place and pay maintaince in a crap ugly vendor that won't even turn on?!? With those extra 24 skill points there is no telling what I could do

Is this a known bug (ie: has it been reported)? I have just bought a house and am struggling to set up a shop so I don't have any experience with vendors.

Seems to have been broken since the last big patch. This is a big issue for me on the new Europe server 'cos a few lucky people got vendors down before the patch but the vast majority of people who are now ready to start their own shops cannot get vendors installed (including me!).

I experienced this also the other night. The only work around is keep trying. I placed, payed maintance, initialized, tested, withdrew maintenanceand then destroyed my vendor about 20 times in a row until I finally got it to function properly. Did exactly the same thing every time, so not sure why it worked the 20th time and not the first 19. It's functioning just fine now. But I bet if i tried to place it again that same thing would happen.

FINALLY - Found a work around for this issue and I hope other will benefit.

  1. Create your new vendor and name it whatever you want.

  2. Place your vendor wherever you want

  3. DO NOT ROTATE OR PAY MAINT YET

  4. Initialize vendor

At this point your vendor should be working properly (regardless of which way it is facing). Now, pay your maint and select the vendor by simply left clicking once on it. Use the following command to rotate your vendor:

/rotate left <# of Degrees>

so it'll look like this when you type it: /rotate left 90

You have to have the vendor targeted when you issue the rotate command. When you press enter it'll rotate and be ready for business. Thanks to the Merchant forum for this suggestion. I hope others can benefit from it. I just wish I could take credit for it but Ican't. Good luck.

For myself, I found that it simply did not like the area where I was trying to place it. When I placed in a different location in the room, it worked fine.

As a Master Merchant moving around 12 of our vendors this past week, I have had some pretty significant experience with this lately.

The terminal vendor models are bugged and give a "failed to initilize" error on many setups. This problem setting up terminal vendors is a current, reported bug.

If you remember the old factory bug, this is similiar in it's occurance and random distribution. It is really a crapshoot if it will work for you. Others may not have a problem, or others may have discovered a sequence of steps that might work for them. For the most part, don't jump through hoops, or fall for voodoo trying to get it to work. While some sequence might work for someone else the only sequence that will work for everyone is to just keep creating them over and over until you get one that works.

I'm not trying to claim someone out there might not come up with a sequence thatdoes work for everyone. It sure dosen't hurt to try. It's just the terminal vendors should drop as easily and problem-free as the NPC vendors do, and only Sony fixing the program bug will return them to their normal, working state again.

Advice from one who has performed over 150 vendor placments this weekend:

Step 1) Place your terminalvendor where you want it.

Step 2) Initilize the vendor.

Step 3) Check to see if it is bugged by trying to use it. If it is bugged, remove it and begin at Step 1 again.

Step 4) If it did work, then rotate / pay maintenance / enjoy your good fortune.

Good luck!

I found that after I made my vendor where I claimed residenceand then dropped it where I wanted it to goI was able to use my rusty old Bulky Vendor. It could have been pure luck, put if all the other options are not working, this might help you too.
