Thread: Power consumption on harvesters appears to be bugged.

Perhaps it is just my harvesters but I have noticed that the power consumption, as stated on the status option is simply wrong. And wrong by a LOT!! I've had to check my harvesters about 3 times a day because they are using way, way more power than they are supposed to. First of all, it says that it will consume 25 units per hour. So I place say 1k of power and it says 1 day and15 hours (more or less, not worried about the specifics). Then I return in about 12 hours just to get some resources to grind with and BAM, it displays something like 1/2 or less of what I had in there before.

This is burning through all of my harvested power in a very short period of time. It is quite astonshing just how much power I have used in the last 3 days....I'm burning it up faster than the California Flora.

Please devs, check this out. I know you guys are very busy but this is making running my crafting business, extremely difficult.Either adjust the power consumption or adjust the status display but either way, we really need an accurate measure of how much power our harvesters need.

This is really only a bug in how the status window displays the power, not how much is actually being burned. If you stop and restart the harvester, the status window gets refreshed to show the actual power reserves.

A weird side effect of this is that sometimes your harvester will show zero power, but still be extracting away. But a refresh at that point always brings it up above zero, so you can't get around paying for power. If you let it run for the standard 25 units/hr (for personals at least), when your initial deposit gets used up, the harvester stops.

sciguyCO you were right, sort of. I did stop and restart my harvesters and it actually changed the amount of power that I had donated to the harvester. The amount that was actually being burned didn't change, just the amount I had previously deposited did. This is great news to me and explains a lot so thank you for your suggestion!

Cerion - yep...it explains it for me. The power actually goes in and is stored in the harvester. When you stop and restart the harvester, you will see all that other power that you prevously thought you lost/used. This also explains why the harvesters will continue to operate eventhough the status displays zero power. The power is there, it's just not displaying in the status window properly until you stop and restart the harvester.

Definitely just a display big, but there is one major warning -

Before redeeding, make sure you stop the harvester (which you have to do anyway), and refresh the status screen to display the correct current power. If you redeed without looking at status, it will redeed with the reduced power (0 or whatever it looked like before stopping the harvester). If you refresh the status after stopping, it will redeed with the correct remaining power.

So the display bug seems to have no effect during normal operation, but does seem to mess up redeeds.

Does this bug explain that when I place 10k units of energy in, I get a system message that reads you have 4400 units of power in reserve? This makes planning quite difficult.

You can get the correct reading by reselecting the resource being harvested , then refresh or redisplay the status screen to see the correct values. Until they fix this aberrant display behavior, just do this extra step before servicing your units. You don't need to stop/start.

well to change resources don't you have to stop the harvester anyway?

Happymob, thanks for that suggestion. That helps to explain why I was burning through all my power so quickly as I was redeeding without getting the display corrected. Sure would be nice if this was fixed soon.

It may be a bug but it's a bug that's not in our favor. The harvester says it's consuming power at 75/hr, in reality its consuming at 150/hr.

Put in 10k of power and 10k of cash and the harvester will suck down power nearly twice as fast as cash even though it says it's using 90cr/hour and 75power/hour.

It's bugged.

Bad.
