The trouble with the DA schematics, is that they are all quite small, resources-used-wise. Since Engineering, Domestic Arts and Business all use the same 'General Crafting Experience' pool, the best way to learn about cooking and clothes, or basic business,is to actually make lots of Engineering Items. Odd, but there you go.

Learn Eng III first, then use that to leapfrog up DA, and then discard the Engineering skills afterward, if you don't want them for themselves.
