Thread: Regarding factories not starting...

Recently I've noticed factories failing to start and terminating with some vuage error message. After some fiddling I figured out that the problem is with the free space in the output hopper. Sure you may have 40 free slots but if the schematic you put in the factory would make 41 then the factory's gonna shut down before it makes a single item.

So it's not really a bug (although the error message could actually be helpfull and tell you why it's shutting down), the factory is just checking to see that it actually has enough space to make all the items the schematic calls for (even if you don't plan on making all the items or even have enough raw materials to make the item).

The factories may have always done this, just its more obvious in the day of 1000 item schematics.

So if your factory is shutting down, clear out the output hopper.
