Thread: Vehicles are way too easy to craft.. :(

From what i read, the schematics of vehicles are too easy. They're even easier than personal harvester resources type wise. It makes vehicle a perfect grinding schematic, which means you will be finding them 500 each on bazaar about a weeks after it went live, just as cheap as personal harvester.

I don't know what the dev are thinking, but not put vehicle under master artisan is definitely not a smart idea.

I don't mind it's under artisan, though i thought it may fall under DE which i personally think would be better. The schematic of vehicle shouldn't be that easy. It should at lease require some component like GP, memory module or so or even component from other profession like droid brain, armor segment power core unit whatever.

Anyway I just hope that could be change somehow before it go live, otherwise I will be really disapointed..

These are just the basic vehicles... I'm sure when more advanced vehicles get put in they will be higher up on the trees.

Heh... I wish there was an edit button.

Anyway... This will keep the prices of vehicles away from the 100k mark (like creature pets...)

With all due respect the comparison is slightly flawed. Creature mounts were different insofar as there was a limited number any CH could maintain and grow, and to get a fully trained mount you really needed a high level CH in order to get all the commands. Because the supply was bottlenecked by number of sellers' cap on mount count at any one time, and the flush of credits that exists in the system, lots of very rich people would throw huge amounts of money to get priority. This doesn't reflect on the CH'ers as a whole, no one can really blame them if people were willing to pay such high premiums.

Vehicles however are fairly simple to make - even at Master Artisan. There is no limit to how many vehicles that can be put into production. There is no growth cycle. There is no taming necessary. There might be people out there who want to queue jump and pay more to get priority for the earliest vehicles pushed out, but unless the complexity is like 1,000 the vehicles will be pumped out of factories in huge proportions. Frankly be thankful they didn't create an entire elite profession for making these vehicles, though perhaps later advanced ones will involve one such. Either which way the prices won't be skyhigh - and people shouldn't be willing to pay that, anyway. If people out there din't want to pay stupid cash for something, the price wouldn't hover around that.

I believe it should be in Master Artisan as well - it gives Master Artisan some meaning beyond some bits and pieces and some bird cage.

Keep in mind that they maybe simple to make at the moment so that the players on test can get them quickly. More than likely they are three weeks or more away from going live.

I'm still not grasping why people would think that DE is the place for vehicle schematics. These things are like apples and oranges. The onlyreal similarity is that they are both metal and they move. If anything I could see a new class for construction of advanced vehicles. Remembering that thespace expansion is around the corner (distant as it may, or may not be) and we will need someone to crank out X-wings and Tie Fighters.

However, I could see droids being a useful addition to any larger vehicle. They could make repairs on the fly and maybe even act as a power-up for speed etc.

Good idea! Actually, think about R2-D2 sitting on the back ofLuke's X-wing. It would be keeping in the movie's fiction neatly.

The two base level mounts are Kaadu and Carrion Spats. Kaadu is one of first creatures that a BE can make, and I think CS is in the second level. Both of these are easy tames in the wild for CHs. There is no reason to make the base level vehicles more complicated than they are. The only reason might be to keep the prices higher, and that just doesn't sound like a good enough reason for me. Henry Ford decided to make the car for the masses. There is no reason we should become elitists now.

A vehicle is a little more complicated than a giant drill....there's control systems, there's drive systems...

I wish they had made it more complicated, a whole new profession or whatnot

Being able toexperiment the minimum turn radius at speed would be a start (handling, you know)

Then top speed...Ride height (heheh, I want to drive a freaking long, low and loud lead sled of a landspeeder)

Armor or course, yah, durability is that, yah...

I expect to see that kind of customization, if they ever add a vehicle consruction profession. These are just supposed to be BASE vehicles, to compliment the first set of mounts.

QuickDrawQwuichay, think of it this way. Highly performance/customized vehicles can be introduced later. Right now they are releasing economy cars. The Hyudai's of the SWG universe, I betting that they will have Porsche equivalents later.

What is so wrong with giving newbies something fun, interesting and profitable to craft, 4-5 hours into the game?

I hope they do it the same way it works for weapons, armour and structures right now; A few taster items for the Novice Artisans, a dedicated profession for those who want to specialise, and specific required components for that profession coming from the Master Artisans.

Works for me.
