Thread: Tips for Noob on Surveying Techniques
There's no tricks in finding high level concentration of ressources. When they spawn, their distribution is random. For water and ore, a concentration of 50% is already acceptable, even if you can find higher concentrations. The SW ressources can have higher concentration but their stats might not be to your liking.
And radio will give you some kind of damage everytimes but not always will wound you.

So just hit the numlock key to get moving, open your survey tool, and keep surveying. Then just steer towards the highest waypoints. Make an extra waypoint when you hit a high concentration, then keep going. After you survey most of the flat spots on the planet, go back to the highest concentration you found and plant your harvesters. Don't even go to mountainous areas or wet areas - just stick with the open, relatively flat spots.
If you need ore, then find which planet has the JTL ore and survey only for that. All other ores are limited to max 67% spawn - the JTL resources can go to 100% like all the others. Spawn densities are not higher on particular planets.
On radioactives. If you are using it for power then the name tells you all you need to know. Class 1 has the lowest PE, Class 7 the highest. The higher the PE the more units of power per unit of radioactive. (range is 1.1-1.9 IE 1 unit radioactive class 1 is ~ 1.3 units of power. Class 7 1 unit= ~ 1.9 units of power.
For shipwright you need the special radioactive so whenever it spawns harvest some.
Go to swgcraft.com and see if someone else has already found it and added to the database.
If you absolutly need to get a sample, drop a cheap personal harvester and get some then destroy the harvester.
What is the JTL ore? Is it a new named type that was introduced with that or is it something specific that shipwrights need?

Yes and yes. I think it's called Fermionic Siliclastic Ore. Look on swgcraft.com to see what planet it's on. It was introduced with JTL, and it can spawn at full density. And it's used in some shipwright parts (and anything that just required general ore). So if you need general ore, it can be a good idea to mine this stuff, since you can find it at a high concentration. And its spawn usually lasts for about 3 weeks instead of the normal 2ish. But it only spawns on one planet at a time.
