Thread: IMHO, The Whole Point of the Bazaar is...
...to help out younger artisansshow off their wares and establish a customer base.
Its not there to act as a global bazaar for everyone to sell their stuff on.
I think that the bazaar is fine the way it is. Its simple enough to use, the 3k cred cap is very good because it keeps people from solely utilizing the bazaar for their wares.
Instead, people rely on customer referrals and their own customer service to keep people buying their stuff. They establish their own stores, in strategic areas, to further increase their business.
In a completely player driven economy there wouldn't even be a bazaar. I think that would make it nearly impossible for younger artisans to get started, so I believe SWG devs put it there to help them out.
It also keeps the best of the best crafters from overwhelming all competition. Ideally, that person would have to open up stores on multiple planets which, hey, is just like real life (swap planets with locations). This helps even the playing field.
Just my $0.02.

PS Oh yeah...In case you're wondering, I'm writing this to respond to all the people who complain out the bazaar's UI and cred cap.
I agree that ideally there would be no bazaar terminals and all commerce would be through players or player controlled merchants.
However, my immersion is DESTROYED when I have to go to a website to find a waypoint for a player-built store and that store happens to be located 1000 meters from civilization.
The developers should have made allowance for people to set up shops in the cities. There should have been "market zones" where a person with merchant skills could put up a kiosk the same way a scout sets up a camp site. The kiosk would require some maintenance of some kind or the kiosk would disappear and free up space for others.
As it is now, the only thing like a "market zone" is the cluster of crafting stations, but often these tend to be put in odd locations away from where there is a steady flow of customers.
There has to be a better way, it's up to us to find it.
I think the bazarr works well for the low level crafters. Its a place to get started and for people to find your wares and that you are an artisan. Once you are established you should either make a shop or if you do not want to own your own stop find other shop owners who will take things on consignment for you.
The only change I would make to the bazarr would be to make it planet wide only. It would only show items for the planet or region you are in. Remove the entire galazy option. Another option would be to increse the fee based on your skill level to encourage elite crafters to not use the bazarr and use shops or consignments with shop owners.
I would like the ability to rent out a stall in town to set up a merchant. In town merchants should be based on the elite merchant skill lines and have increased maintaince because they are in town.
Iam really enjoying my merchants and crafting and I hope to see more enhancements in the future to keep me busy.
