Thread: nOOB crafter needs help
I have been playing off and on since the start of the game, but I travel at least one week a month. Sometimes I cant play when Im in town because Im just to busy. I wanted to be a weaponsmith or droid engineer, but I just cant sample enough resources to craft enough items to get my skill up. I started training in pistols because I figured I needed money to buy harvesters and such, but I can't find anything online to tell me how to proceed and what to do in order to progress in this profession. Pistols seem easy enough: take destroy missions and kill stuff.
Before I give up on crafting I wanted to post here and ask for guidance. I tried reading the posts everyday for the past few days but OMG! I found a post earlier that went way off topic and got into RL religion!?!?!?!?!
Is there a web page I can goto to get information and guidance on being a crafter and the steps I need to take? Please help. Thanks.

As for harevsters before you buy anything you need engery to run them. Either buy a few wind generators or look on the bazarr for engery for sale. Use your wind current survey tool to find a good place to put down the wind generator and wait a day to build up engery. Make sure you put at least 500 credits in the wind generator and make sure you turn it on ![]()
Once you have engery use the survey tool of choice to find a good spot to put down your harvesters. Make sure you have credits for maintance and that you also deposit some of the power you have either bought or collected from your wind generators. Select the material for the harvester to harvest and turn it on. You harvester will not run without maintance and power in it and it will also begin to degrade with no maintance. If you are going to be away for an extended peroid either put 1500 maintance and redeed your harvester so the deed it back in your inventory or pay enough maintance to cover the days you will be away.
You have 10 lots and the personal harvesters take 1 so you can place as many as you feel you need up to 10.
You can learn about crafting pretty much my just jumping in and experimenting with what is avaible for you to make in your generic crafting kit. If you started as an artisan you should have it in your inventory if you did't then just buy one off the bazarr.
The best way to get materials while wating on harvesters is to use the survey tool of your choice and survey till you find a good spot and then sample to hand sample the resource. This puts the resource directly into your inventory and gives you surverying exp. You can raise the surverying line in the Artisan tree with this experience. This is slower and it does take actions points so you will need to rest often but it gets the job done. As you advance in the surverying line make sure you are increading the range on your surverying tool by choseing the set range option on the radial menu for the tool in question.
You also have the option of searching the bazarr and seeking out shop owners to buy resources. This is a good way to find resources if you only have a few harvesters or don't want to bother with them at all. I use a combination of my own harvesters and buying off the bazarr. I also sell resources I do not need to help to buy the ones I do.
For bones, hides and meat seek out your local scout. All other resources can be handed sampled or harvested.
Thank you very much. You have told me a lot of things I did not know! (I was pulling my hair out!)
Thanks again

Is there another way to get Energy? How do you get harvesters?
You can only get engery from a wind generator or Solar generator or from buying it on the bazarr. You can also only buy harvesters and generators from someone who has the engineering line and/or an Archetict Check the bazarr or do a shout in what ever city you are based out of Iam sure there be somenoe more then happy to sell you one.
I was told once that radio active metals can be used as engery also which you can hand sample but I have never persoanlly tested this.

My pleasure. Send me a tell if you have any questions in game. I'd be more the happy to try and answer them.
