I have heard that you can mine radioactives to power your harvestors with.
So.
Can a harvester harvest enough to power itself and have some left over? In other words can I use a harvester as a power generator?
Also do any of the other energy type things work? I heard that solid petrochem didn't work, but its been a while and maybe it works now.
Anyone have experience with it? I HATE wind generators, heheheh!
I'd also like to try out a solar generator or fusion plant sometime, anyone have info on those?

Yes, you can use radioactives for power.
I once needed a little extra power to keep my harvesters running, so I set up a harvester on some radioactive. If you find a really good spot, you can mine up enough to feed that harvester and up to 2 more.
This approach has half the maintenance of a wind harvester, but has much lower results. maximum of 2 units/minute vs a wind harvester at 5 units/minute. It's not a very good idea, but it works.
Consider this. Would you rather your mineral harvesters work like a wind generator, or like they do now. If it worked like a wind generator, you would get 2.5 times the resources, and only 2 times the maintenance cost, with no power consumption.
I'd stick with wind, unless you have a lot of cash on hand, then move to solar.
Remember, there ARE good wind spots out there... Try not to settle for anything below 40%
