Thread: Manufacturing Schematics for Weapon Powerups -- bugged??
When I create manufacturing schematics of weapon powerups and then manufacture the items, the resulting powerups have NO abilities at all!! In fact they come out of the factory labeled "coupler" or "scope"... not "hot wire coupler" etc.
The process:
Go to a crafting station, assemble a powerup, experiment, then create a manufacturing shcematic.
At this point the resulting object doesn't show any abilities at all.
I take the schematic to the factory and use it... the result is a generic powerup with no abilities.
What I've noticed is that when you create a prototype of a powerup, you never know what kind it is or what its properties are until it appears in your inventory. Obviously the code that decides these properties doesn't run until it places the item in inventory, but when you manufacture powerups at a factory that code doesn't appear to run at all. The result is crates of useless junk.
My intentions are to craft/experiment a good powerup and manufacture crates of them. I then intend to sell them by the crate. I know that I'd much rather have a crate of powerups when I'm in the field... i.e. use them like a package of batteries
There's no way in *explitive* that I'm going to sit around a crafting station and make these things to sell individulally. I've been on hunting trips where I've used 8 or 9 powerups while in the field. I just see powerups as a good source of renewable income for crafters.
Has anybody else noticed this behavior/bug?
I haven't even got this far because of other problems. First, when I create a power-up, the display does not show what mods it has. This isn't a big deal for prototypes, but if I want to make a manufacturing schematic, I have no idea if it has the mods I want. Inconvenient, but I figure I'lljust make it into a manufacturing schematic and see once it is made. Unfortunately, the manufacturing schematic doesn't show the mods either (of course, this may be because, as you have experienced, there are none). I assumed that I just had to do a 1 item production run for each item to see what it actually was. But now I'm glad I didn't get that far (I have 12 schematics in my datapad waiting to test).
By the way, what type of factory makes weapon power-ups? I've seen conflicting opinions.
I've been looking for info on manufacturing powerups, but if it's bugged, bleh. Needs fixing.
