Forgive me if this is stupid. I have tried to find the answer but haven't had any luck.
I am a new player and have Engineering IV and Surveying IV in artisan. I am trying to be able to place harvesters now so I can craft more (am going to be a weapon smith). I have crafted a deed for a wind power generator, but I cannot use it. At first, I thought I needed a deed and a harvester / generator, but from what I have gathered, the deed is the harvester or generator. Is that right? Or am I really missing something?
If there is nothing else I need, I have gone outside of any town limits, and I have tried to "use" the deed. In some instances, I get "You cannot build there" and in some instances I get the screen that looks like I can place it, but I cannot. It is red everywhere and won't let me do anything. There are even other wind power generators right there, but I cannot do anything with mine.
What am I missing / doing wrong? Help!!

There are five reasons you may not be able to place a harvestor:
- There are no-build zones around every static city in the game. You have to wander out a bit from town to build at all.
- Creatures and lairs prevent you from placing down harvestors a certain radius around each; sometimes making an area pretty much unbuildable until you destroy them.
- rough terrain like mountains, steep ravines, and water are also unbuildable.
- The whole "footprint" of the structure has to fit on the buildable spot to show green. Houses, large harvestors, and wind harvestors have a bigger footprint then small personal harvestors.
- Most player cities will not allow building within the border without permission.
Hope this helps,
