Maby its where Im looking but I always find that medium mineral harvesters have a highet BER than the heavies. Is this only me? Are there other stats to look for when purchasing harvesters. Im aware that heavies can hold more and this is impotant for some but is there more to it?

Medium minerals = 14BER

Heavy minerals= 9 BER

What am I missing?

might have your numbers switched, max mediums I have seen were 10 and heavies were around 14.

That being said, I find it more cost effective to use mediums. Less maintenance, less power usage. someone with a little time on their hanbds could probably do the math and prove me wrong, but that's what I use

ok you got somthing mixed up heavies go up to BER 13 execpt fusions that go to 14 and u also can find some higher due to the one day crafting change. mediums go up to i believe 10.

Well, the one day patch made BER 11 Mediums and BER 14 Heavies possible, but disregarding that, 10 for mediums, 13 for heavies.

Yup, was thinking fusionion generators when I said 14 BER.

rather, 10 BER Mediums and 9 BER heavies is what I see while shopping. So tehre are greater BER heavies, ok thats a good thing.

I have a BER 16 fusion so you are wrong about that.

Also durring the one day crafting change lots of ppl made BER 14 heavies

Then you have a pre-nerf fusion. The highest you can create for the past several monthes is a ber 14 fusion, ber 13 heavy, and ber 10 medium.

Why use heavies? Quantity. Ber 10 Mediums are the most cost effective, but when you absolutely need every unit you can pull up heavies can't be beat.

So to answer your question: The reason you would use heavies is simply that BER13 is more than BER10, and you only have so many lots - period.

The cost per unit extracted is certainly higher on a BER13 Heavy than it is on a BER10 Medium. But if a resource is very high quality - or if you really need a lot of it - or if you're so **** rich you just don't care anymore - you'll pay the higher cost for the sake of pulling the maxiumum amount.

Not to mention the fact that while a heavy has an increased output of 30% over a medium, the hopper size is pretty close to the double (varies though) meaning even though you'll pull up more/lot, you actually have to check up on it less often than a medium. If your setting up a multi-planet harv run, that helps
