A Guide To Understanding Energy - Radioactives, Potential Energy, etc.

There has been a bit of confusion lately about energy, specifically about the "potential energy" value and what energy types can be used in different equipment. As I regularly sell energy, I thought I'd post a brief guide to understanding energy. I hope it helps!

Will radioactive energy work in my extractors and factories?

Yes, radioactive energycan be added to anything that can use wind and solar energy.

What does this "potential energy" attribute? Isn't all energy the same?

All energy is not the same, and a "potential energy" attribute over 500 does not mean the amount you get doubles. "Potential energy" below 500 gives no bonus, and thus the quantity of power you are holding is equal to the energy you will be able to add to your extractors. When you have power with a "potential" energy over 500, you can work out how much energy you can add by using this equation:

( potential energy / 500 ) * quantity held

So for example, if you held28893 units ofFeniv radioactive energy with a "potential energy" attribute of 623, the amount you could add to your extractors is:

( 623 / 500 ) * 28893 = 36000

It is important to be aware of "potential energy" when buying energy as it affects what you really care about, being how much energy you can add to extractors.

Well that sounds good, but can I test it?

You can test this pretty easily. When you go to add power to a structure, it will show you a scroll bar with the maximum you can add based on the power you are carrying. In the above example, if the 28893 units of Feniv were all you were carrying you would be able to add 36000 energy.

Thus if you want to test it out, it's easy to get 1000 units of something with a "potential energy" above 500 and test that the above formula is correct by seeing how many units of energy it will let you add.

Ok Parthenia, how much are you selling energy for?

I am selling energy for 1 credit per energy unit. One reason I posted this is because a lot of my customers are a bit confused about what 1 energy unit is. Simply put, it's the energy you can add to an extractor. When you buy energy from one of my vendors, it is at a fixed price of 1 credit per energy unit regardless of type and "potential energy". So, for example,

35157 units of Quadism (PE of 512) costs 36000 and adds 36000 energy
28893 units of Feniv (PE of 623) costs36000 and adds 36000 energy
19502 units of Awidowasris (PE of 923) costs 36000 and adds 36000 energy

So this keeps buying energy simple, in that you can buy any line from my vendor and be confident you can add the amount you spent to your extractors as energy.

Where are you selling?

I now have 2 stores under the name "Fulcrum Power". These are located at:

-187, -5740 just south of Coronet on Corellia

5668, 6235 just southeast of Kaadara on Naboo

If you use energy at all or know someone that does, please pay a visit to one of my stores! They are kept well stocked and backed bya fleet of power generators.

Kind Regards,

Parthenia Jones.

Do you do much business selling power? I have thought about doing the same on my server but was not sure I could make using my lots worth it over selling other resources.
