Thread: input hopper?

Got a question here I was hoping someone could help me with.

I've loaded a bunch of factory crates and resources into my crafting station's input hopper. But when I go to craft an item my input hopper shows up empty. I have to remove the filter for anything to appear, but even then it won't let me actually use the resource or crate. Says I don't have that in my inventory. I've never tried to do this before so I'm wondering if I'm missing something here, because some times it will allow me to use whatever is in the hopper, but most often not. I just don't get it. Is it related to which crafting tool I used to access the input hopper? If that's the case, seems like the whole idea of the input hopper is useless.

Well, thanks for your time and help on this.

It only does that for crated items. Crated items will only appear in your hopper during item creation during the same login. i.e. If you log in, place crates in your crafting station and create an item they will appear in the hopper window. If you log out and use the crafting station again, they will NOT appear in the hopper window during item creation.

Not sure if it's a bug or not, but that's how it works.

I don't believe I've ever had this problem. I have various things in the input hopper of my crafting station, and I've had the correct ones available to use for crafting (except for some crates of crafted components for the limited use schematics that I have noted before). I'll check again, but I think it's working pretty much ok for me.

THey aren't bugs, they're "Undocumented Features". Seriously though, it happens to me too.

Caution using the input hopper for actual storage, however. The crafting stations can become bugged. What I mean by this, is make sure that the resources / items in the input hopper are counting against the total for your house. If they *are* you should be fine..... should. If they're *not* you run the risk of not being able to access them again, or them disappearing entierly.

Figured ya might want to know about something like that.

I have been told by the devs (some time ago), that the input hoppers on private crafting stations are not tracked properly in the data base. What this means is that you risk loss of items in the hopper without recourse to CSR return.

I do not recommend storing things in the input hopper. The existance of the hopper is an artifact of beta SWG where there were items that required components and resources that would not fit in the player's inventory.

Take care,
Guru

OMG. I didn't know this... thank-you. I was using the input hopper for my "special" resources (the named ones and stuff w/high stats). I'd be really upset if those disappeared!!

hey I was messin with my crafting tools and I just seen an option for "input hopper" when I clicked it I noticed my crafting station opened up, now my question is this? what does it do?

I payed 50 bucks for SWG but when I bought it I had no clue I was paying for the beta...

funny thing is I get charged 15 bucks a month and it's still in beta

Well, you can store resources in the input hopper, for easy access when you use your crafting tool. The input hopper is located in the crafting station.

Well, that's worth noting. Was an artisan for about 8 months myself, but never really used it for storing things, so I wouldn't know of that. Thanks for the heads up Guru
