Thread: How do You get the recourses You need?

Hmmmm, can´t really explain what I mean!

I am thinking of starting to manufacture Swoops (primarly for the guild but also try to sell some of them) but I am having problems getting the recourses I need!

I have used up my lots with heavy harvesters reserving four lots for the house and two fusion-ion generators to dig up some power!

Sometimes when I am surveying around I can find big fields filled with heavy harvs (12+ of them) with the same "company name", have these people more chars on the server or are their guildmates helping them?

My guildmates help me out but right now we are concentrating our recoursehunt for the shipwrights in our guild!

I know I can buy what I need but I am low on funds now.

Looong post this just to ask, How are You pulling in Your recourses?

Just curious, I am thinking of this sometimes when I see what some of You are selling and thinking of the recourses You must need and now finally I have asked!!

First of all, don't panic, lots of people are in this position.

But I guess it's a very bad time for anyone to start a business that has nothing to do with JTL at the moment - resources are very hard to acquire, and sales are slightly lower for many non-JTL items.

You can hire a miner, and pay them for the resources that they mine for you. This is a good way to get lots of resources you need, but it can be expensive, and you need to be able to find someone who is not using their lots, and willing to help you.

You could do cross-server lot trades, this is practically a free source of resources, but this practice is frowned upon by many crafters. It doesn't bother me that people do it, but i choose not to do it myself.

My Advice is loose the 4 slots for the house and just use 2 slots for a medium but buy a factory and use the input hopper for storage .. The house will give you 150 lots of space for res etc and anything else goes into the factory .

This gives you an extra slot for a harvie and also gives you a factory.

Also 2 reactors is abit much for 7 harvies .. i have 2 reactors for 10 harvies and never run out of power so just drop to 1 reactor and use the other slot for another harvie but if you find yourself running low on power just suppliment with some bought power.

Personaly i got another account and just run all my harvies on one toon with factorys/reactors/houses on the other.

Guild mates help with harvies / factorys etc which is a big help

what he said

Plus, if you have 2 fusion reactors going, you will know how much you need to kep you harveters going, sell the rest, stockpile some, but sell the power, people always need power, and get yourself a nme for it as well.

Personally I have never used a cross server swop, but I do have harvesters down from guild buddies and other friends and customers, it helps a lot, the downside is, if a resource dries up you cant move the harvesters quick enough if at all, so you just have to run them on the low % stuff that is spawned under them, however, you never know when those 3, 100k stacks of gems will come in handy

I mine all my own resources for my bike-making operation. Some things I do differently that you that are helpful to me:

1) Lose the 4-lot house. Go to a two-lot. Or, I use the Naboo Small Style 2 that only take one lot; but I have two of them. That gives me a "private" space (the 2nd house) and a "public" space (the first house [or tent]) for my shop. Only works if you don't mind the little round Naboo house and can and don't mind deploying on a planet they can be placed on. If not, a normal 2-lot house is the way to go.

2) Don't "reserve" 2 lots for fusions! Buy 8 fusions (for your 8 "harvesting" lots). Mine fusion in between spawns of bike stuff. That way you mine a crapload of fusion when you aren't getting bike minerals; and have 8 lots for mining bike minerals when you are doing that. Of course, sometimes you will have both bike minerals and fusion to choose from at the same time; but in my experience, I can mine enough fusionduring "in-between" bike mineral spawns that I don't bother with it when I'm on a good bike mineral (because I have plenty of fusion to spare). By doing it this way, sometimes the in-between times may only be a day or two; but you are mining 120K+ per day (avg 15K per fusion per day on about a 75% spot) even for those two days. That lasts until the next in-between time. Believe me, you will build up a very nice cushion of fusion this way.

What he said. I have one round naboo house and one merchant tent. I have 8 each of every heavy. The fusions go down on class 6-7 and I have over 2million reserve power now. I have gone as much as 2 months not pulling power. and my 8 lots are 24/7 on something. If there is no good resource I mine even classs 5 and below radioactive.

P.S. may hve to lose the house or tent if I get JTL and my sorrosub ship and they dont fix the lot requirement

I operate very similar to Sepen, but unlike him, I've never found it necessary to have more than one fusion reactor. Because I have two locations and don't have enough skill points to be able to place merchant tents, I have six lots available to me for factories and extractors. Here's a breakdown of how I operate:

  • I have one factory that a friend has placed for me on one of her lots. If you're going to get help from friends then factories are the way to go; unlike extractors, factories never need to be moved once they've been placed. The key here is that you have to trust your friend completely in that she will always have access to anything you place in the factory. If I get an especially large order in I do have other factories that I can place on my own lots, provided that those lots aren't being used to mine an uber spawn.

  • Whenever a really good spawn of non-ferrous metal comes in (such as right now on my server) I dedicate all of my free lots to mining that non-ferrous metal. If you can build up a nice stockpile of non-ferrous, that will last you through several spawns of ferrous metal because you use so much less of the non-ferrous metal.

  • Whenever you're not mining ferrous or non-ferrous metal you should have one lot dedicated to your fusion generator. Even if the current spawn doesn't havea great PE, you should almost always mine power. Power with a low PE is better than no power at all.

  • Obviously the last step is to mine the ferrous metal. Generally, I mine ferrous metal about 50% of the time. I mine it until the spawn dies and then I basically use it all up to craft vehicles, which I split between my 3 vehicle vendors. Typically that run of about 75 vehicles will last me 2-3 weeks at which point I've already mined another spawn of ferrous metal and have a new load of vehicles all ready to throw on the vendors.

The above strategy works really well for me because I'm well established and have the luxury of having stockpiles of resources. When I was just starting out like you are, I found it necessary to mine both ferrous and non-ferrous metal at the same time. At that point I had 7 lots available (one house and a fusion extractor on the other 3) and I found a 3 non-ferrous to 4 ferrous extractor ratio worked well.

Anyway that's my strategy, take from it what you can. As you gain experience over time you'll develop your own strategy that's unique to you. Good luck!

Thanks! Many tips for me!

I wrote wrong! I have two small houses (Tatooine style 2+2 lots). Given to me by the guild! I am trying to dump one of them but a guildmate that quit playing "borrowed" the house for temporary storage and now I am stuck with the things in it!

Also great tip with the Fusion-Ion Generators! I have up til now lived on selling the power from them and to be honest I have continued to put them up only because i "am used to it"! But now they are coming down!

Yesterday I hit the limit with the storage in the house I use! (The house I want to dump is on Lok and where I am is Tatooine!) Is there a storage limit in a factory?

Thinking about starting a new char on the server I am at! Max that one out in surveying ability and then let it go in the fighting direction! The "cross-server" thing, nahh, don´t want to have another char on another server. (Too lazy!)

I'd ditch the smalls for a medium which will give you 150 storage space instead of the 50 with a small

Factorys have huge input hoppers so can take alot of items ..think its around 100 items or more.

I have 3 account and one is jedi, so 4 total, thats 40 lots, I use 10 for homes, 30 Lots available to me, I use 3 sometimes for factories and the rest for Harvesters, I Drop as many as 25 harvesters on a Uber resouce like the recet 1000 Conductivity Copper, 22 harvesters, 2.2 mill units of copper harvested before it dried up. I get my Power in Spurts, I would drop 15 Fusion harvesters, get 1 mill units of power then look for other stuff.

Well I have two accounts so its a bit easyer for me.

On the first account I have one house(two lot) that I keep privete, and 3 factorys(2 equipment ,1 clothing) and 5 open lots.

On the second account which is the crafter, one house(two lot)that I use as a shop and venders, that leaves me with 8 lots, I always have one fusion gen up as much as posable even when i'm not pulling anything else, right now i have 2 up, to rebuild my reserves.

I tend to keep running the harvesters as much as posable, My main is a master smuggler so I use more low grade stuff than good.

I also have admin rights to a food & chem factory that my friend only uses about 10% of the time.

What I do is: take a look at swgcraft.com to see what I want to go pull( when i'm not pulling my personal use I'll pull high end stuff for resale) Go find it on the secont account and place X number of harvesters then email the WP to the other account.
